This CD was created out of a desire to feature those instruments invented by myself in the late 1970s and early 1980s No sooner had I begun than I had the inspiration to base the music upon paintings by Nikolai Rerikh (Nicholas Roerich 1874 - 1947). A prominent feature of these invented instruments lies in their long sustain and rich harmonic nature thus suited for meditation or contemplation. Rerikh's paintings are deeply spiritual and meaningful and provide perfect subjects for this exploration. Some other sounds are added such as Tibetan Ting-shag, Drilbu, singing bowls, and Rolmo plus PAISTE gongs, Chinese gongs, also overtone and undertone singing (chanting). Not every track features the invented instruments but two focus strongly upon these (track 2 & track 5).

This CD is created from two long improvisations recorded during the White Temple Recordings in January of 1986. The purpose of this CD is to satisfy a need for those interested in long improvisations upon my large assortment of instruments. The White Temple has a wonderful acoustic and these recordings feature UHJ-Surround Sound, which provides a fuller sound upon playback. Essentially, the microphone functions as one single microphone so that mixing is not possible. This means that what you hear is exactly what I played nothing has been adjusted in the volume - made louder or softer. The second track was previously released on DIVINE PEACE but is accompanied here by its companion piece as they were the last two recordings made at the session - very late one evening and very early morning the next day..

#1 Gathered Together in Communion around the Central Fire. (26-4-2007) (9:30)
Dedicated to Oliver Nares
In this piece we exploit the harmonics strongly present within a set of bowls. Their basic pitches might vary, even as their overtone structure will vary, but the predominant overtone is fairly close together providing reinforcement and the reinforced harmonic seemingly floats in the air - almost providing a space we can seemingly walk right into. This repeats throughout with other bowls entering and leaving - like birds swirling around an invisible central point in the sky - or like a group of American Indians seated in a circle each one relating to that central Fire.
#2 The Tao of Inner Peace. (14-4-2007) (12:42)
Dedicated to Doris E. Perry (1922 - 2006)
This is dedicated to my late mother. Two Solar Plexus chakra bowls supply the backbone to this piece providing a mood of deep peacefulness. The Tao has great affinity with the element of water and the sense of going with the flow. That pathway provides very little friction and hence this is a very peaceful piece.
#3 The Heart of Healing Strength. (26-4-2007) (12:18)

The music played here features two Heart chakra bowls supplying the colour Violet to this chakra. Later in the piece we switch to another Heart chakra pair only this time channelling the colour Amethyst. Violet to the Heart supplies the spiritual strength to go on - to keep on keeping on along the spiritual path.
#4 Abide with the Great Healer. (13-4-2007) (9:26)
Dedicated to Whitefeather and Golden Hawk - beloved spirit guides (both Comanche).
The piece explores the interval of a Fourth - an interval approximated between these several bowls. This interval lies close to the centre of the octave and carries this energy of resting in the centre - it is neither experienced outside nor inside of ourselves. We are in IT. This bears close relation to the Christ spirit. We can feel as if we are hanging in the balance between self and not-self whilst our self may briefly communicate with our Higher Self. Communing with the Universal Christ Spirit I join my dear beloved guides in spirit - where we can each find that at-one-ment with Life. The sense of a God Within and of a God Without are in harmony - the microcosmic and macrocosmic Man interrelate (Man coming from Manas - meaning the Thinker embracing both sexes in universal consciousness, awareness, or thought).
#5 Deep Stillness beneath the Star. (20-4-2007) (6:24)

Two very deep bowls underpin this track which otherwise prominently features a beautiful old silver bowl that I have named Blue Mountain Lake Bowl. With the correct wand this bowl will play a sustained pair of pitches and the interval between the lower and higher notes reflects the relationship between our higher and lower selves as visualised as a shining star above the still mountain lake in the deep blue of the night. One or two stroked bowls are added in a few places.

#6 Christ in You is King. (1-6-2007) (8:10)
Dedicated to Minesta (aka Grace Cooke - White Eagle's medium)
A study of bowls in Thirds. This interval is approximated here being as bowls are not made to conform to any scale - let alone the Western Diatonic musical scale. With this interval we can feel a sense of resting and abiding within ourselves. We feel the Christ spirit within ourselves - or the Divine Light or by whatever name you wish to call this spiritual essence. White Eagle through Mrs. Cooke gave the words for the contact healing service for the giving of spiritual healing by the laying on of hands. Part of the words for this service comprise the title for this piece whilst White Eagle through Minesta brought the spiritual revelation of the inner meaning of the words of Christ as spoken through the great Master Jesus. In the Old Testament it is written "Ye are gods." When Jesus used the words "I AM" he was not referring to himself, his earthly body and ego, but rather the Cosmic Christ Spirit was speaking through him - even as it can speak through ourselves once we are as purified as Jesus was.
#7 Life Eternal within the Deep Stillness of the Star. (2-5-2007) (18:46)

The final movement from Peace of the Blessed Buddha (recorded in the White Temple of the White Eagle Lodge in January of 1986) comprises this track with the Maitreya bowl playing in the background throughout. This is very spacey played upon deep PAISTE tuned gongs and Burmese meditation gongs (Kyeezees) and hand-made inventions of Frank's - Sun Ray, Pyrahermeezees & Trianguhermeezees all within the wonderful acoustic space of the White Temple.
