From the CD HIMALAYAN STUDIES #5
The beautiful Himalayas are the inspiration for the sequence of paintings to illustrate the covers of this Series of 5 CDs. The contrast between the world of shadow and that of sunlight serves to illustrate the interdependence of all things. Through the world of darkness and shadow we are lifted up by the great light of the sun, the source of all life on our earth. Such dramatic contrasts between light and shade serve to remind us of the extremes of the yearly cycle found at the Summer and Winter Solstice points. The warmth of the returning Sun at the Spring Equinox is appreciated by virtue of the contrast to the months of cold and darkness initiated by the Winter Solstice. The grand and lofty immensity of the Himalayas raises us up into the spiritual dimensions and the importance of our small human self (that aspect preoccupied with earthly matters and our little earthly personality - the relative shadow of the True Reality) begins to seem rather insignificant. Chomolungma, Goddess Mother of the World. Mother or Matter - Mater in Latin. As the Mother brings forth the Child so, too, being born into a material body provides us with an opportunity to give birth to the Golden Child. Whilst contemplating the vast epochs of time this great mountain range has taken to unfold, the comparatively short duration of our earthly life seems to pale into insignificance in comparison to the vast cycles of time represented by the life cycle of these remote and majestic mountains. It can also take a vast cycle of time of earthly incarnations before we can actualise the Symbolic Life of this Fiery Golden Child of the Spirit.
