This is a portrait of a 'spirit helper' drawn to work with me in 1973.
Whitefeather told my father that it was through the 'colours'
that I created upon the invisible planes during my improvisations that he was
drawn. This happened
to coincide and synchronise with my receiving a very sacred 12th century Tibetan
Meditation Cymbal which, alongside of the help received from this particular
spirit helper, changed my life and music most significantly. Although he was not
in possession of an earthly body at the time, yet I could not deny his help,
being as he guided me into observing and understanding areas of sound which
nobody then known to me (nor now) was capable of doing. The insights I thus
gained comprised what might best be described as a body of Lost Knowledge. In
short, he helped me to expand my studies into the inner dimensions of Sound; he
also assisted
me greatly in observing the effects of my instruments, more significantly
regarding the somewhat rapidly increasing collection of sacred
ritual instruments, upon the inner planes: the so-called Astral, Mental, and Spiritual
planes.
He is depicted here in his incarnation as a Tibetan many thousands of years
before Buddhism came to Tibet. He is mentioned in my article 'Mystical Studies
in Music' and the several subsequently revised published versions of that
article.
