Deeply meditating within the eternal silence of the Lotus we are lifted up into the Mountain heights where we may hold communion, heart to heart, with the great masters of the Wisdom in Shambhala. The most famous mantra of the East is OM MANI PADME HUM - usually translated as 'the jewel in the lotus'. The jewel (the Chintamani Stone of the Philosophers) is that Divine Light and it resides within each of our lotuses - or Chakras. Most especially is it found in the Heart Chakra where the Light of Divine Love, the Lord of Compassion, or the Cosmic Christ Child, is born within each one of us at our second birth - when we are born of spirit in initiation. In the symbolic remoteness of the mountain heights, away from the troubles of the world, we may enter into communion with the divine. The lotus has its roots way down in the mud at the bottom of the water but raises itself up above the surface of the water to bloom in the sunlight. The spiritual journey can be likened to this path of rising up through the troubled waters of the soul-life and then entering into the air element and from there opening unto the Fire of spirit.
