To the ancient inhabitants of the Himalayan regions spirits inhabited everything - the air, the rocks, the water etc. Even today certain gifted individuals may even see such spirits - spirits of trees of mountains and even of countries! The Australian Theosophist Geoffrey Hodson was one with such a gift who published several books which included paintings of particular mountain spirits. Here the being has managed to actualise himself into the actual body of the mountain itself. Along the left-hand side of the ridge we se this golden spirit resting in silent repose contemplating the spaciousness of the sky - and during the evenings gazing out to infinity and the endless worlds of this physical universe.
