GRAPHIC SCORE

FOR

PEACE OF THE BLESSED BUDDHA

Track 1 on the CD INFINITE PEACE

This is a tidied up version of the score (years after the recording was made).

Originally it was more like a painting. (See below - bottom).

Along the top of the images are the four sections of the piece:

Cave –     Master –     Meditation –     Compassion

Beneath are words expressive of the energy for each instrumental section:

Centring –  Opening – Warming/Uplifting –     Floating –   Stilling –     Expanding

In the above score, the Vertical lines represent a Centring energy whilst the suggested instruments to be used are graphically represented. The first two centring sections are played upon one ancient Tibetan Singing Bowl which is struck 3 times on each occasion. The third centring section is played upon a 400 year old Japanese Zen Buddhist Temple Bell called a Densho struck 6 times ('Floating'). Accordingly, there are three downwards pointing arrows above the Tibetan Bowl and 6 above the Densho. The 'crescendo' forms (after the first 3 strikes on the Tibetan bowl and after the Densho) refer to the music expanding outwards more than as a dynamic reference. The section played after the second set of 3 strikes on the Tibetan bowl is for stroked bowls, which produce an enveloped feeling, and so there is a circle of Gold around white, around rose, for this section to depict the mood/energy of the music at this point (i.e. Warming/Uplifting). The final section features two PAISTE Tuned Orchestral Gongs (C'' and D#'') four Burmese Kyeezees and instruments invented and hand-made by myself Pyrahermeezees, Trianguhermeezees, Sun Bells, which are all have an expansive nature in contrast to the Kyeezees, which are centring, that begin this final section.
