SPIRITUAL ASTROLOGY
I have been practising Spiritual Astrology since 1977.
Spiritual Astrology acquired this term to distinguish
it from regular Astrology which, at the time of origination of this term, was
striving to get acknowledged by the scientific fraternity as a science. Because
of this, a form of astrology was unfolding that gave strict and inflexible
interpretations for traditional aspects, etc. Those wishing to avoid the
pitfalls of this pathway, and who may have wished to practice astrology from a
different philosophical perspective, chose to distinguish between their
astrological practise and that of the mainstream of astrology.
Furthermore, because of the need to obtain scientific
credibility, it was decided that astrology should no longer have any
identification with certain philosophical/spiritual beliefs/or ideas especially
Karma and Reincarnation as these concepts are unacceptable to many scientists.
Accordingly, Spiritual Astrology does include, and we might even say
specialises in, Karmic Astrology - including considerations of past-lives.
Along with certain other practitioners in this field, I use my clairvoyant
abilities to look into the client's past lives. In my own practise I
specifically look for those past lives that can assist the client to make the
best use of their current (astrological) life. However, whilst the concept
of karma is readily acknowledged as being retrogressive, yet it also carries the
certainty that what we do now will affect our future lives. So it is that the
Law of Karma goes hand-in-hand with the Law of Opportunity. Therefore, it is
that being born into a specific Sun Sign (perhaps commonly known as birth
sign - e.g. if you're born on the 6th June then you are a Gemini) carries a
certain karma, as there are specific spiritual qualities that the soul is
wishing to acquire during this current incarnation that are indicated by the Sun
Sign. Such an approach places the astrological information into a different
range of contexts that derive their meaning from spiritual knowledge (also known
as the Ancient Wisdom teachings) and the reading has far more to do with matters
of the soul and spirit than with personality characteristics or fortune-telling.
Astrology was one of the Sacred Sciences in the
ancient times, practised by priests and initiates of old. Astrology also allows
us to gain an objective perspective on matters in our lives. Despite what we
think of ourselves or what others say regarding ourselves, our charts tell us
the truth if only we have eyes to see. For instance, there are branches of
astrology concerned with the future and one such is called Progressions. The
most common form of astrological progressions are termed Secondary Progressions
whereby each day after birth is equal to one year of our life. Philosophically,
we can see that this could make sense when we ponder that we spend nine months
in the womb and the remaining three months would equal over 90 years in
Secondary Progressions!
One cycle that each of us faces is that of the
Progressed New Moon. For over three years prior to this event, and for some 3-4
years afterwards, we can be in a period of darkness. The past cycle has gone, we
can no longer feel any life in our past and the future hasn't yet arrived. When
a person is undergoing such a period in their lives it can be a tremendous help
to understand that this isn't anything to do with their outer lives but, rather,
a Cycle that they are experiencing. This can bring objectivity to the situation
where otherwise the person might blame outer circumstances. Feeling that the
past has gone, whilst also feeling in limbo, etc, they might take it that their
marriage/relationship is over and so decide to end it when that might not be the
actual case. Astrology can thus be a great tool in self-knowledge and also help
us in our relationships by providing us with understanding of how the other
individuals really are. For instance, understanding the (astrological)
inclinations of our children can help us to provide them with the unique help
that they require as an individual. It can also absolve us of any feelings of
inadequacy if people look to us accusingly because our child isn't 'normal'. The
child's chart might indicate that they'd be the way they are no matter who their
parents were!
Another aspect, otherwise denied by regular astrology,
features the possibility of contacting the spiritual guide of the client - who
really knows the main landmarks of this incarnation - either to indicate the
particular path and give advice or for the astrologer to act as a messenger to
bring a specific message from the guide to the client. I must stress that, in my
case, the conveying of a message may happen; it is not a given, neither
have I ever promised to reveal past lives - although this has occurred in every
instance.
The form of Spiritual Astrology, which I practise,
works from the premise that the individual horoscope reflects that point in time
and space when we decided that we desired to reincarnate. The natal chart,
therefore, reflects this desire whilst also indicating just how well equipped we
are in achieving our aims. To those with 'eyes to see' it is an indication of
the true purpose behind our reincarnation and once we can realign with this then
we can make a fuller use of this wonderful opportunity afforded us by the
universe.

compel".
